Wise Cicada Opens Its Doors

A new food store and Coffee & Juice bar with a conscience.

It is believed that around the 6th century BC a man named Aesop wrote a collection of animal fables that taught great morals.

One famous fable is that of “The Ant and the Cicada” The cicada was not very wise as it would sing all summer long whilst the ant would toil to store food for the coming winter. When summer faded into autumn, and eventually autumn into winter, the cicada was left to starve.

This very old fable has been retold and rewritten several times and each generation has drawn different wisdom from it. Our parents were taught the rewards of hard work and lessons from the above story were interpreted as such.

In today’s world we have to look further, it is no longer enough to only care for oneself and ones progeny .The world has opened up in its complexity and we are now aware of the effects of our actions not only within our families, but also on the environment and on the distribution of wealth within it.

Gone are the days when the cicada in order to become as wise as the ant, would only need to learn to store food for the winter. We now need to be wise with our weekly shopping needs. To take into account what is in the food we eat, what effect it has on our bodies, how it is packaged, and where it comes from.
