Vanessa Ingraham | Naturopathic Physician, Integrative Primary Care

I thrive on challenges and seek to empower people to take control of their health.
I strongly believe that the body is capable of incredible regenerative possibilities and feel that helping people reach their true potential is my calling.
I emphasize both evidence based medicine and traditional wisdom in my practice and I am constantly reading and analysing new research.
As an artist I enjoy the creative aspect of developing treatment plans that nourish every aspect of a person during their healing journey.
I also consider myself a catalyst, in that I encourage people to ask questions, engage in critical thinking and thus become truly involved in their own health.
I am deeply passionate about education and enjoy speaking to small groups about how they can become less dependent on the medical system and learn to trust their own intuition.

My clinical practice focuses on integrative wellness and holistic health.  I work with my patients to try and determine the root cause of their health problems rather than simply medicating symptoms.

Symptoms can be seen as our body ‘talking’  to us.   If we learn to listen carefully, instead of always telling it to ‘be quiet’ with the use of medication, we can begin to uncover the wisdom inherent in our body’s cells, tissues and organs.

I have a strong clinical interest in hormonal balance, women’s health and preventative medicine and find that by helping my patients tune in to what their body needs we can achieve lasting health on all three levels, mental, emotional and physical.

Overall I consider myself a patient advocate and do my best to help people understand the pro’s and cons of any treatment plan so that they can make an informed decision on the best way to tackle a diagnosis or remain healthy.

I was granted early acceptance into the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2006 after pursuing undergraduate studies in biology/pre-med and animal sciences at both the University of Georgia and Eckerd College in St. Petersburg Florida.

Upon completion of three and a half years of intensive laboratory and classroom based post-graduate training at CCNM, I entered a primary care residency at the Robert Shad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC). The RSNC was an, an out-patient teaching hospital associated with the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. At the RSNC, I treated patients for common health concerns including digestive issues, diabetes, heart disease, gynecological and female problems (fibroids, cervical cancer, endometriosis, PMS), mental health, and auto-immune conditions.

I also completed an internship at the Sherbourne Health Center, a community-based, non-profit health clinic that provides complementary care to HIV positive patients. I am fully licensed in Ontario by the BDDT-N, and in the state of California as a primary care naturopathic physician.

Post Graduate Education

After graduation from CCNM I completed additional training in Integrative Oncology with Dr. Eric Marsden ND. By using strategies such as targeted botanical medicine, IV nutrients and specialized eating plans, we can improve quality of life and make conventional cancer treatment more effective.

More information regarding this training can be found at Dr. Marsden’s website.

I am also trained in Parenteral therapy (IV), mesotherapy and facial rejuvenation using non-invasive techniques. I am a certified Healthy Breast Educator, having completing training with Dr Sat Dharam Kaur, a naturopathic doctor and bestselling author who specializes in treating breast cancer.

For additional information on Dr. Sat Dharam, breast cancer prevention and the Healthy Breast Program please visit her website.

I am a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) in Anti-aging, Functional and Regenerative Medicine (FAAFM), and will be board certified in Anti-Aging, regenerative and functional medicine by December 2015.

I am also a Yoga Alliance certified hatha/vinyasa Yoga Instructor.  I love teaching small groups or private students about the many health benefits of yoga, meditation and proper breathing.
